Time management is key when it comes to being a successful manager.
I have written about Eisenhower method in the past and how I use it. I have had a busy week and I learned a new thing about calendar management.
Color code the calendar to be able to see how many types of meetings you have in a week/month/quarter.
Optimise meetings: If there is one color too many times, then you are having too many meetings of a single category and optimizing them.
Context switching: If the color codes alternate too many times a day then it means you have too much of a context switch and less focus time.
An alternative to color codes is also using themes for every day. Following are my themes:
- Monday huddle for self-reflection and preparing the week
- Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday: meetings heavy
- Friday: learning and yak shaving. I make sure all the yak shaving happens on Fridays so that I have clear visibility into the next week and my Mondays are calm.
