My head feels like a leaky bucket these days. Every morning, I wake up to an email inbox overflowing with newsletters and course announcements; all of which, I’ll admit, I’ve willingly signed up for. It’s an information tsunami, and I’ve been struggling to keep my head above water.

The latest wave to hit my shore was a course titled ManagerGPT, billed at over a thousand dollars. My immediate thought was, Nope, not happening. But the title got my attention. It hinted at a blend of two things I am passionate about: people management and AI.

So, I did what any of us would do in this day and age. I turned to my favorite AI assistant and said, “Help me out. I can’t afford this. Give me the course plan and some practical examples.” And it worked. The LLM did a brilliant job, cutting through the fluff and giving me a concrete list of practical applications and toolsets.

What it spit out was fascinating. It’s not some futuristic, sci-fi course about robots taking over HR. Instead, it’s a smart, pragmatic blend of traditional management. Think feedback, coaching, and all the “people things” with a dash of AI tools. It’s all about using AI as a personal assistant to rehearse a difficult conversation, or to help you structure feedback.

Frankly, I felt a little less overwhelmed after reading it. I’ve already been using AI to automate some of my tasks, and on the people management side, I feel like I’ve got a head start from years of experience. It was a reaffirming moment, a confirmation that I’m already on the right track.

What a time to be in the AI era. It feels like 90% of the content out there is just clickbait, preying on our fear of being left behind. But the remaining 10%, the stuff that actually gives you practical, real-world examples is pure gold. It’s the difference between a leaky bucket and a sturdy cup, ready to be filled with useful knowledge.

This course, or at least the version my AI concocted for me, feels like one of those rare cups. It’s a reminder that amidst all the noise, there are still practical applications that can truly help us, and we don’t always need to pay a fortune to find them. We just have to know how to ask the right questions.
