My writing journey has been far more transformative than I ever imagined. It wasn’t about writing a novel in 100 days, or even a series of viral blog posts. It was about showing up, consistently, day after day. It was about building a habit, one small step at a time.
Last week, I hit an incredible milestone of a 100-day writing streak!
In the beginning, some days it was just a few sentences, a scattered thought, or a quick journal entry. Other days, the words flowed more freely, turning into longer reflections, creative pieces, or even outlines for future projects. The length didn’t matter as much as the act itself. The simple act of engaging with writing, even for a few minutes, kept the momentum going.
What I’ve learned through this process is the immense power of “starting small.” It’s a concept we often hear, but rarely fully embrace. We tend to aim for grand gestures and sweeping changes, only to get overwhelmed and give up when the initial motivation wanes. But by breaking down a goal into tiny, manageable daily actions, we make it almost impossible to fail.
The key to maintaining this streak wasn’t willpower alone. It was about creating a system, removing friction, and celebrating the small wins. It was about understanding that consistency trumps intensity, especially when you’re trying to build a lasting habit.
This experience has profoundly impacted not just my writing, but my approach to other areas of my life too. It’s a testament to the idea that if you want to achieve something significant, start tiny, stay consistent, and trust the process.
Speaking of which, I’m incredibly excited to announce that I’ll be diving deeper into this very topic next week at LeadDev Berlin! I’ll be giving a talk on “The Power of Starting Small Habits and How to Keep Them Up.”

If you’re in Berlin next week, or just curious about how to cultivate lasting habits that lead to remarkable results in your professional and personal life, I’d love for you to join me. I’ll be sharing practical strategies, personal anecdotes (including more from this 100-day streak!), and actionable tips that you can implement right away.
I truly believe that the secret to achieving big goals isn’t about monumental effort, but about the compounding effect of consistent, small actions. Come learn how to harness that power!
